大花蕙蘭，學名Cymbidium，又稱喜姆比蘭或蟬蘭，屬於蘭科蘭屬植物。原產於印度、緬甸、泰國、越南和中國南部等地區，是蘭屬中一些附生性較強的大花種和以這些原種為親本的人工雜交種。大花蕙蘭是對蘭屬中通過人工雜交培育出的色澤艷麗、花朵碩大的品種的統稱。蘭屬植物約有48種，目前用作雜交親本的原生種有近20種，主要是大花的附生類和少量的地生類。大花蕙蘭自1889年英國培育出第一個品種以來，在20世紀40年代，歐美也選育出大量種間和品種間雜種。至今，大花蕙蘭的栽培品種已有近2萬個，在中國國內外市場十分走俏，成為蘭花中的龐大品種群。
大花蕙蘭是多年生附生草本植物，假鱗莖粗壯，屬合軸性蘭花。假鱗莖上通常有12～14節，每個節上均有隱芽。隱芽根據植株年齡和環境條件不同可以形成花芽或葉芽。葉片2列，長披針形，葉片長度、寬度因品種而異。葉色受光照強弱影響很大，可由黃綠色至深綠色。大花蕙蘭的根系發達，根多為圓柱狀，肉質，粗壯肥大。花序較長，小花數一般大於10朵，品種間有較大差異。花被片6，外輪3枚為萼片，花瓣狀，內輪為花瓣，下方的花瓣特化為唇瓣。大花蕙蘭果實為蒴果，其形狀、大小等常因親本或原生種不同而有較大的差異。種子十分細小，種子內的胚通常發育不完全，且幾乎無胚乳，在自然條件下很難萌發。其中綠色品種多帶香味。花大型，直徑6～10厘米，花色有白、黃、綠、紫紅或帶有紫褐色斑紋。
大花蕙蘭的生產地主要是日本、韓國和中國，澳大利亞及美國等。大花蕙蘭的栽培品種有切花品種和盆栽品種，按顏色又可分為紅色系列、粉色系列、綠色系列、黃色系列、橙色系列、咖啡色系列、復色系列等。常見品種有C.Lucky Gloria 『Aguri』、C.Great katy 『Chartreuse』、C. 這種應該是虎頭蘭，也可以叫它大花蕙蘭。

【概況】虎頭蘭葉長碧綠，花姿粗曠，豪放壯麗，是世界著名的"蘭花新星"。虎頭蘭的植株和花朵分為大型和中小型，花朵碩大，有黃、白、綠、紅、粉紅及復色等多種顏色，色彩鮮艷，異彩紛呈，花型整齊且質地堅挺，經久不凋，屬豪華高雅型蘭花。它具有國蘭的幽香典雅，又有洋蘭的豐富多彩，在國際花卉市場十分暢銷，深受花卉愛好者的傾愛。日本人民稱它為"東亞蘭"，歐美人士又叫"新美娘蘭"。總之，虎頭蘭十分討人喜歡。
